A SPLIT SECOND... @ 09 Sep 2012
My good friend and my pastor's brother, Josh Thompson is flying into Nairobi Monday (tomorrow) night and on up to Lodwar Tuesday afternoon. He is planning to staying with me until the New Year.

I own a Honda 250cc dirt bike. I had it serviced in anticipation of needing a second mode of transport with Josh being here.

I decided to take it to church this morning, kind of a test run.

On the way back, I was enjoying the ride and nearing the river. The brush is more dense there...and taller. I rounded a curve and low and behold there is a herd of camels laying in the road!

There was no where to go and nothing to do but hit the brakes as hard as I could and lay the bike down.

I am happy to report no camels were harmed...maybe a little scared though. I wish I could say the same for this old body of mine. I am not hurt...just a few sore spots and a tender left leg. I will be ok.

Only in Turkana do you have to be mindful to reduce your speed because there may be a herd of resting camels in your path...just around the bend!
