31 SALVATIONS AND 4 BAPTISMS @ 27 Sep 2012

Much has happened since my last post! The biggest change has been to my household. Josh Thompson, a very good friend of mine and a brother to my Pastor, has come to stay with me until after the New Year. While it has only been a couple of weeks, he is proving to be a huge blessing to me and the work. Josh and I showed the Samson film at our church in the village of Napetet. Hundreds filled the road, our church compound and the surrounding plots to watch. It was the first time we showed this old film...which is in English. I had to translate it to Swahili and Pastor Michael then translated to Turkana. The village cheered every time God imparted strength to Samson. I love watching films with Turkanans as they celebrate God's Word. We travelled to our church in Nangolipus where Moses is Pastor. He is feeling called of God to leave this church he planted back in 2008 and carry the Gospel to a new village with the hopes of starting another church. While the church is a bit sad to be losing the only pastor they have every known, they are thrilled that others will be given the same chance they have to hear the Gospel. Moses last Sunday in Nangolipus is 28 October. Please pray for all involved in this time of transition. Josh and I were invited by Pastor Stephen to come up to Kalokol to help in a day of evangelism. He also had 4 folks needing baptism. After a few hours of going hut to hut, 17 made a profession of faith. After a quick lunch, we all went to Lake Turkana. Under the authority of Landmark Baptist Church Kalokol, Josh baptized for the very first time. He did a great job! At dark, we showed the Ten Commandments film...with me translating to Swahili then Stephen to Turkana. Josh, Pastors David & Michael, and I were invited to Naduat to help Pastor Josephat and our church in a day of evangelism. 14 made professions of faith. We also showed the Jesus film that night...which thankfully is in Turkana. This week I have spent in the classroom at our Bible Institute. I taught through 1 Thessalonians and Pastor Michael taught through Philippians. After this week, the Upendo Class only has 1 seminar left (it will begin 26 November) before their graduation 8 December. We will head to Lokwar Angileso Saturday for a weekend crusade. I ask for prayer for 2 reasons. First, this village was hit hard by Cholera in June and our Bible study suffered greatly. However, God has done much to gather folks back to hear the Word. We will be talking this weekend about organizing this 2 year old study into a church. Secondly, Josh and I will be sleeping out in this village. The risk of malaria is increased greatly because of their close location to Lake Turkana. While malaria is nothing new to me, I really do not want Josh to get sick. Thanks for reading and praying!
