TUSCALOOSA AND TURKANA @ 16 Nov 2012
Thank you to my good friend, George, for keeping my feet to the fire about this journal!

Since my last entry, I had 2 friends from Tuscaloosa, AL come for a visit. Jeff Gilbert and Ron McInnish were here the first 2 weeks of October. They helped build an addition to our church in Kalokol. They also travelled to Lokwar Angileso when we held our baptismal and organizational service. 33 were baptized and formed Lokwar Angileso Landmark Baptist Church.

Jeff and Ron were such a blessing while they were here! THANKS FOR COMING OVER TO HELP US GUYS!

Josh recently changed his return ticket. He will stay now until 30 January. His sister and my good friend, Heather will be coming over the middle of January too.

We held our 6th annual marriage seminar the end of October. Julius and Violet Kalande came up from Western Kenya to teach again. It was a great week...but very challenging as well. The question was raised, WHEN will Christian Turkanans begin to APPLY the Word to their marriages??? Pray for Turkana!

We held the last class for the Uvumilifu class the first week of November. They have now completed the Basic level in our Bible Institute and their graduation is 8 December.

There has been some major challenges develop the last 3 weeks. 2 pastors have resigned. Another is struggling with an issue that could destroy his testimony and greatly affect the testimony of our churches in Turkana. Please pray for us!

Josh and I travelled to Kalokol today to meet with the location Chief and take him to Lokwar Angileso. We are trying to buy a plot so we can build a church building. The councelor was not available today.

The meeting between the Chief and the village went extremely well. It was awesome for me to listen as they told the Chief their thoughts about me and how I have been a fulfillment to their many years of prayers for someone to come and teach them about God...me, just some boy from Sumter county, an answer to their many prayers??? God is Good!!! He uses the weak things to confound the mighty!!!

Since our return to Lodwar this evening, the councelor has returned to Kalokol. She would like for us to return tomorrow to collect her and travel back to Lokwar Angileso to finalize the land deal. We will head back in the morning. Please pray things go as planned.

Happy Thanksgiving from Turkana!
Ekiru
